Why VideoCBT!

Training Managers have turned to AVDP to provide cost-effective and more interesting ways of delivering their Computer Based Training - CBT courses to counteract the ‘boredom factor’ many trainees are complaining about when using certain competitor’s un-inspiring and boring successions of screen after screen of text, pictures, graphics etc.

AVDP have taken this onboard and developed VideoCBT which uses the well proven most powerful training medium of video at FULL screen resolution on PC monitors. Each VideoCBT package comprises the following structure.

a) Login / Registration screen

b) Full training video

c) Multiple-choice Questions

d) Score screen - displays number of questions answered correct and score as a percentage

e) Competency Certificate printed - shows Trainee’s  - score as a percentage - date issued

This Site contains Movie Samples of 'Off the Shelf' Titles - Training Productions
Corporate / Promotion - CBT & E-learning - Working Evaluation Modules with Excercises, Questions, Competency Assessment.

f) Detailed Competency logfile automatically generated - option to print, e-mail trainee’s results

Example of AVDP Client using VideoCBT

‘Permit-to-Work’ VideoCBT - FULL screen video - Questions & Competency Assessment produced in English & Portuguese (Brazilian) languages for major International Offshore Support Shipping Company with land based facilities world-wide

After evaluating various CBT & e-learning options from various companies, the contract was awarded to AVDP to ‘personalise’ our generic ‘Title’ “Principles & Operation of Permit-to-Work” in English & Portuguese languages to suit their Permit-to-Work procedures. Now in full use onboard all their ships and at land base sites world-wide, all employees and contractors are required to work through the Permit-to-Work VideoCBT modules on-site. On completion of the questions module a pass mark of 75% is required before being permitted to carry out any work involving the issue of a work permit. Depending on the percentage ‘pass’ mark achieved, a ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ Certificate is automatically printed and a ‘log’ file with a detailed analysis of their answers and percentage achieved is automatically e-mailed to training centres in Stavanger and Aberdeen for competency assessment purposes. Our client is making considerable cost savings with on-site training and competency assessment instead of sending trainees to the training centres with all the costs involved and having to provide cover in their absence from the work site.

Today more than ever, businesses need to keep their staff up-to-date to stay ahead. Knowledge and effective training needs to be available immediately and to be effective.

Introducing e-learning to your organisation does not have to mean replacing or writing off your existing methods. Your existing resources may provide the basis for your e-learning strategy but delivered electronically. So what is e-Learning? It is the delivery of learning and training using computers, internet, intranet. Learning materials and training courses can be accessed from the web via a computer.

The advantages of web-based training is that the learner accesses the training program directly from their desktop; from a dedicated learning station, or a laptop PC - whichever is most convenient. The information is delivered, via a browser, either on the Internet, or a corporate Intranet.

The benefit to the company, or learning / training provider, is that it can distribute learning material in a controlled and cost-effective basis. Different types of media can be incorporated into the programs to increase impact and effectiveness. Web-based tutorials, being centrally served, can be easily updated and incorporate dynamic content.

Hybrid (Mixed) Learning / Training Solutions (On-line and Off-line)

AVDP can bring together the best attributes of web-based, CD-ROM, DVD and CBT applications to form a Hybrid mixed solution package. This combines high impact media with the ease and ability to update.

E-learning can be "on demand" and overcomes timing, attendance and travel difficulties, particularly when used offshore, on ships and other remote locations where the attendance of trainees at a central training centre creates additional costs, such as cost of transport, hotels, and need to cover for the trainee when absent from the workplace.

Internet-based e-learning technology enables companies to track and monitor who has completed the training, when and how they have performed. This is a major benefit for organisations that have struggled to keep track of fragmented training activities.

Some of the benefits of e-learning / training:
Improved performance: productivity improvements through learning on demand
Flexibility and convenience:
Potential cost-savings:                                                                                                                                                                            The geographic distribution of learning is limited only by the ability to access the Internet or Intranet. Measurable: centralised tracking and monitoring of learning / training activity
Personalised: delivery of targeted learning to meet individual company’s requirements.
